Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Salary: $26 to $30 Hourly (Depending Upon Experience)

Shift/Schedule: 1st Shift (Day Shift)

Background: Must be able to pass a Background Check & Drug Test (No Exceptions)

Education/Qualifications: A 2-year degree from a college or technical school with at least three years of experience in an industrial laboratory is preferred. Or a 4-year degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, or Instrumentation Engineering or related field, with some academic lab experience is preferred.

Job Description:
Responsibilities:
  1. Operate custom digital printing test rigs and drop visualization fixtures in a laboratory environment.
  2. Test paint on these test rigs.
  3. Fully characterize printed paints using a variety of analytical techniques.
  4. Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory; collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur.
  5. Identify and suggest improvements in methods.
  6. Produce research experimental results, or information/data management results, or assemble and configure small/pilot scale equipment and control systems utilizing a variety of techniques.
  7. Document findings and communicate results.
  8. Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location.
  9. Maintain a safe working environment.
  10. Accurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations.
  11. Interpret and communicate test results using computer-based systems.
  12. Document experimental test results using computer programs such as Word, Excel.
  13. Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis.
  14. Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints.
Qualifications:
  1. A 2-year degree from a college or technical school with at least three years of experience in an industrial laboratory environment, or a 4-year degree in Electrical, Electromechanical, Instrumentation Engineering or related field.
  2. Some experience operating complex laboratory equipment.
  3. Experience testing inkjet inks.
  4. Experience with automotive paint testing.
  5. Good interpersonal and communication skills to work well in both self-managed and team environments.
  6. Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines.
  7. Comfortable working safely with hazardous materials.
  8. Strong interest in hands-on work.
  9. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  10. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  12. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  13. Strong computer skills and ability to interpret data and trends.
