Job summary

Kelly Engineering is seeking a QC Lab Technician / Assistant to join one of our leading clients in the Chemical Manufacturing industry at their Orange, TX plant. You will perform analytical and physical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using approved methods, maintain sample identification, and manage data in LabWare LIMS and MS Office.

The role requires 1+ years in QC labs, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in QC lab environments.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIMS).
• Able to work independently with moderate supervision.
• Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and walk moderate distances as needed in support of sampling and lab activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical and physical testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using approved methods and specifications.
• Collect catch samples from manufacturing areas and maintain proper sample identification and traceability.
• Review test results for accuracy and completeness; promptly escalate abnormal results and out-of-spec trends.
• Maintain retain samples (prepare, label, store, and complete periodic inventory).
• Receive, unpack, store, and organize consumables, standards, and samples to support efficient lab operations.
• Enter, manage, and retrieve data using site systems and software (e.g., LabWare LIMS, MS Excel, MS Word).
• Perform routine instrument/equipment checks, calibrations, and basic troubleshooting; elevate issues as needed.
• Maintain a safe and organized laboratory through 5S, housekeeping, visual workplace, and continuous improvement tasks.
• Dispose of laboratory waste, used samples, and expired materials according to approved procedures.
• Support investigations by assisting with data review, sample checks, and handling of nonconforming materials, following site procedures.
• Comply with all applicable safety, quality, customer, regulatory, and statutory requirements, including chemical hygiene, PPE, safe handling, and incident reporting.

Pay Rate: $22-$25/hour

Shift: 7:30am - 4:30pm (Monday-Friday)

Ideal Candidate:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or a related field (or equivalent lab experience in a QC or analytical laboratory environment)
