JOB SUMMARY

The Lab Technician, working in an accredited commercial laboratory, is responsible for performing various laboratory functions such as preparing media and samples of various types for analysis, performing routine laboratory maintenance, and supporting the operation of laboratory instrumentation and equipment to ensure an exceptional Customer Experience (CX).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Following established SOPs, Laboratory Technicians support laboratory staff through executing entry-level duties to ensure timely and accurate data reporting.
  • Gather materials needed to prepare and analyze test samples.
  • Manage sample receipt, login, storage, and disposal.
  • Prepare standards, solutions, media, etc., required for sample analyses.
  • Set up and operate basic laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance like cleaning and sterilization of glassware and ensure laboratory cleanliness.
  • Accurately record observations and data.
  • Maintain up-to-date logs, notebooks, and equipment records.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, data review, and data entry into LIMS.
  • Comply with and promote Personnel, Safety, and Quality Programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma.
  • Ability to handle small vials, test tubes, and delicate lab equipment.
  • Apply basic algebraic concepts for calculations and measurements.
  • Read and follow protocols and SOPs.
  • Effective communication skills in writing and speaking.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements:

  • Use hands for handling objects, talking, hearing, and sensing tastes or smells; occasionally stand, walk, or sit.
  • Regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds; vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Moderate noise levels typical.
