Posting Summary

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Center for Cell Signaling Department within New Jersey Medical School.

The primary purpose of this Laboratory Technician position is to provide research, technical, and animal husbandry support to ongoing projects under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and/or other senior personnel.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Performs various research technical operations relative to the ongoing specialized activities of a laboratory.
  • Provide routine technical and research support to on-going projects, compile and assist in data analysis, prepares materials for publications and reports.
  • Assist in experimental assays including, RNA / DNA extraction, protein preparation, western blot analysis and cell culture-based gene manipulation, tumorigenic and metabolomic analyses. Additional and/or specialized training will be provided.
  • Assist in daily tasks relevant to mouse colony management, including daily health checks, genotyping, breeding monitoring and assisting in animal surgery procedures.
  • Assist in the collection and basic preparation of biological samples and specimens.
  • Prepares media, substances, solutions, and reagents and performs related duties.
