Job summary

WaveCrest Staffing Group seeks a dependable Laboratory Technician for a Bio-industrial client in Elk River, MN. This hands-on role supports food safety, quality, and R&D teams and offers growth in molecular biology.

This 6-month contract with potential extension pays $18-20 per hour. Responsibilities include routine analytical testing, sample prep, instrument maintenance, data reporting, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Background in food science, biology, chemistry, or related field preferred; High school diploma required.
• Prior laboratory or quality control experience.
• Experience with wet chemistry techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine analytical and laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
• Conduct sample preparation including weighing and grinding of analytical samples.
• Execute analytical testing such as ash content, forced air moisture, and vacuum moisture.
• Monitor and verify instrumentation performance; perform calibration checks and basic preventive maintenance.
• Document and interpret test results in internal databases and communicate findings to internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Support cross-functional teams to promote and maintain a strong food safety and quality culture.
• Assist with routine inspections and support more complex testing under moderate supervision.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer specification documentation.
• Handle administrative and technical tasks, escalating complex issues when needed.
