Job summary

Clean Harbors, located in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support sample intake, preparation, data entry, and outgoing shipments. The role involves a 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:00pm), with training on a day shift for 4-6 weeks and potential overtime.

Pay is $22/hr with a $1.75/hr shift differential. Responsibilities include data entry in Winweb, labeling and organizing samples, shipping via FedEx, and maintaining lab inventory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus one year of specialized training.
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or physical science preferred.
• Solid understanding of math, chemistry and chemical testing.
• Experience in a laboratory preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety is the primary goal by following policies and acting safely.
• Enter sample information into the laboratory information management system.
• Label, organize, and manage samples and waste per QA/QC guidelines.
• Prepare and ship samples; maintain inventory of consumables.
• Data entry in Winweb and basic customer communication.
• Calibrate instrumentation and perform basic lab tasks as needed.
• Complete paperwork neatly and timely; support QA/QC processes.

Job description

Clean Harbors located in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for helping with incoming, preparation, data entry and sending samples out as needed.

Shift: Monday-Friday: Second shift- 3:00pm-11:00pm; OT and Saturdays as needed; Will train on a day shift for 4-6 weeks.
Pay: $22/HR with $1.75/HR for shift differential pay

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
• Collecting sample boxes from the shed (we have a cart)
• Opening boxes
• Entering the information for the samples in our Laboratory information Management System, based on tests requested on sample chain of custody
• Labeling samples
• Organizing samples in refrigerators
• Discarding completed samples when their retention time is over
• Building sample kits to send out (placing empty jars in a cooler, sometimes assembling boxes with empty jars and then loading them onto a pallet)
• Shipping samples through Fedex
• Maintaining inventory of consumables
• Logging chemicals and equipment that we receive
• Basic communication with our customers
• Data entry in Winweb
• Other admin tasks like scanning, sending emails etc
• Possibly some lab tasks
• Performs analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problems
• Calibrates and utilizes instrumentation
• Maintenance of equipment suggests solutions to problems
• Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion
• Ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines
• Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices
• Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent required+ 1 year of specialized training required
• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or physical science is preferred
• Solid understanding of math, chemistry and chemical testing preferred
• Experience in a laboratory preferred
• Ability to work in a team environment
