Job summary

Park Nicollet, part of HealthPartners, seeks a Laboratory Technical Specialist to ensure reliability and integrity of test systems across sites. You will coordinate with vendors and implement procedures for test methods, specimen handling and instrumentation.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in science or healthcare and at least three years of lab experience, plus proficiency in MS Office and data analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science or healthcare field required.
• Three years operational laboratory experience required in specialty.
• Laboratory and Hospital information systems, PC with word processing and data management, Internet, and unique reference laboratory ordering systems.
• Proficiency in the operations of Microsoft Office (including e-mail and calendar), telephones, fax machines and copiers. Frequent use of spreadsheets, data, and analytics software.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability, integrity, and functionality of all test systems within assigned lab discipline across all laboratory sites.
• Evaluate and coordinate activities with vendors and implement procedures for test methodology, specimen handling and instrumentation.
• Ensure compliance with accrediting and regulatory standards. Design, monitor, and direct staff in quality assurance systems including quality control, test utilization, and proficiency testing.
• Participate in and lead HealthPartners hospital and ambulatory technical teams and committees as appropriate.

• Medical Laboratory Science
• Experience across multiple laboratory disciplines preferred.
• Three years’ experience with clinical laboratory systems and quality assurance related to specialty preferred.
• ASCP certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and proven leadership qualities.
• Demonstrates comfort interacting with customers and providers of various educational backgrounds.
• Ability to analyze workflows, develop plans, and implement appropriate actions.
• Exhibits a high degree of organization, with proven attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Possesses effective problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of general method evaluation, validation, and research and development of methodology.
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge of accrediting and regulatory agencies standards.
