Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Animal Industry, is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to serve as the primary contact for laboratory customers, handling reception duties, mail processing, and sample intake and documentation.

The role involves managing phone systems, processing Health Certificate orders, and entering client and sample information into laboratory management systems while ensuring compliance with shipping, QA, and hazmat regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of laboratory work experience, or relevant college/vocational training with three courses in physical and/or natural sciences.
• Valid Class E Driver License.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must pass pulmonary function test and respirator fit testing.
• Computer skills and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for laboratory customers; manage reception duties, mail processing, and sample intake/documentation.
• Enter client and sample information into laboratory management systems; ensure accurate shipping, QA, and hazmat compliance.
• Coordinate with reference laboratories and perform quality control activities; support administrative and laboratory tasks.
