Job summary

Responsibilities cover front-end processing, sample labeling, processing on automated platforms, storage, waste disposal, and ensuring specimen quality; strong communication and basic computer skills are required.

Qualifications

• Laboratory experience including handling open containers of blood and body fluids.
• Knowledge of computer applications, especially Excel and Word.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains an adequate supply of laboratory items and reagents; informs supervisor when shortages occur.
• Receives, documents, and stores goods per NYU policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Verifies specimen requirements; communicates with providers and documents cancellations or rejections.
• Ensures specimen quality prior to processing and prepares samples for analysis (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting).
• Places orders as needed and supports front-end processing of samples for analysis.
• Performs back-end processing, storage, tracking, and disposal of specimens as required.
