Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Laboratory Support Specialist to join our Laboratory department on the Night shift (9:00 p.m. – 5:30 a.m.).

The role focuses on coordinating and maintaining the workflow of all Laboratory office tasks to ensure efficient operations. Responsibilities include data entry, dictation transcription support for pathologists, dispatching slides and specimens, and maintaining regulatory records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred.
• Clerical experience in a lab setting preferred.
• Medical transcription experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain workflow of Laboratory office tasks.
• Answer questions and report results to customers, staff, and physicians.
• Maintain office equipment and order supplies.
• Create, maintain, and update files, databases, and records.
• Perform data entry supporting ICD-10 and CPT coding and outreach registrations.
• Transcribe dictation reports to support pathologists.
• Dispatch and manage slides and specimens for consults and referrals.
• Dispatch phlebotomy draws as needed.
• Maintain employee records and regulatory certifications.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Position Summary:

Coordinates and maintains consistent workflow of all Laboratory office tasks to ensure efficient operations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• 1. Performs general office duties including faxing, copying, scanning, and filing.
• 2. Communicates with customers, staff, and physicians to answer questions and report results.
• 3. Maintains office equipment and orders supplies.
• 4. Creates, maintains, and updates files, databases, records, and other documents.
• 5. Data entry that supports office needs, ICD-10 and CPT coding, and outreach registrations.
• 6. Transcribe dictation reports, and clerical duties, that supports pathologists.
• 7. Dispatches and manages slides and specimens for consults, referrals and other requests.
• 8. Dispatches phlebotomy draws as needed.
• 9. Assists with maintaining employee records and storage of regulatory certifications.
• 10. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate degree
• Clerical experience in a laboratory setting
• Prior Medical Transcription experience
