MPL Laboratories in Sparta, NJ is seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant I to prepare, clean, and maintain the laboratory. This full-time role reports to the Assistant Group Leader of Laboratory Services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Laboratory experience in academic or commercial setting is a plus.
• Microbiology lab experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare media using media work instructions.
• Assist with autoclave validations and sterilization.
• Wash glassware and clean laboratory equipment.
• Clean autoclaves, stove tops and benches; maintain cleanliness.
• Enter data into log books daily for QA/QC.
• Operate balances, dispensers and pH meters; monitor equipment.
• Follow safety standards and wear PPE.
• Move shipments and assist with general lab duties.

MPL Laboratories is seeking a Laboratory Support Assistant I in Sparta, NJ. This a laboratory support position reporting to the Assistant Group Leader of Laboratory Services. Ideal candidate will prepare, clean, and maintain the laboratory.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare media using the media work instructionsAssist with autoclave validations, all media sterilization including autoclave loading and operation, and sanitize controlled environment roomsPerform all phases of glassware washing to include loading and operating laboratory dishwashers and manually washing dishwareClean autoclaves, stove tops and bench tops, ensure cleanliness of all laboratory equipmentConduct end-of -day Spor Klenz RTU spraying of laboratory areasReport low inventory of supplies, perform all phases of waste disposal to include removing garbage, samples, broth and plate disposalRemove expired laboratory stock and equipment according to established disposal proceduresPerform all phases of quality assurance and quality control of record keeping including entering scientific, incubating and recording data and test results into log books on a daily basisFile quality assurance and quality control information in accordance with established proceduresOperate laboratory equipment to include balances, dispensers and pH metersMonitor functioning of laboratory equipment, and notify the Operations Manager of needed repairs, maintenance, calibration and validationAdhere to all approved safety standards to include wearing approved clothing and personal protective equipmentLift and carry boxes of water, petri dishes and general laboratory equipment throughout laboratoryMove new shipments of boxed waterRead and follow standard operating proceduresClean carts and return them to Lab 1 and Lab 2Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the managerRequirements:High School diploma or GED equivalentAuthorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorshipLaboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plusMicrobiology lab experience a plusExcellent Oral, Written, and Technical CommunicationMath aptitude and reading skillsPhysical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods of timeAbility to distinguish colors in order to perform analysisAbility to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitudeEffective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistanceBackground Check RequiredAvailable Shift:Position is full-time Tuesday to Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Training shift to start will be Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Sparta, NJ are encouraged to applyEMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending account.
