Job description

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing advanced computer technology, the Division maintains state-of-the-art automated equipment at multiple sites, including hospitals, nursing homes, and physicians' offices.

This position oversees daily shift operations, staff supervision, scheduling, material management (including blood inventory), and quality review in compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include:

1. Evaluating and assigning technical work daily.
2. Assessing blood inventory, ordering blood, and managing reagents and supplies.
3. Performing technical or clerical tasks as needed.
4. Conducting quality control for tests, reagents, and equipment, and assisting with validation processes.
5. Scheduling personnel and reviewing payroll if using Kronos.
6. Training staff and residents.
7. Ensuring work accuracy and timeliness.
8. Performing annual competency assessments and performance evaluations.

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• NY State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.
• Four years of bench experience as a CLT for supervisor eligibility (or two years with a master's degree).
• Experience with blood in patients with complex antibody problems.
• Understanding of massive transfusion protocols.
• Experience with neonatal transfusion.

This is a per diem position located at the Wakefield campus in the Blood Bank lab, with scheduled shifts from 4:00 pm to 12:30 am.
