Position: Laboratory Supervisor

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our laboratory. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of laboratory procedures, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in research and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols and safety standards.
  • Manage a team of laboratory technicians and support staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting, ensuring that all instruments are in optimal working condition.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline processes and maintain consistency in operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies and reagents, and coordinate with procurement to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Collaborate with researchers, scientists, and other departments to support ongoing projects and facilitate laboratory needs.
  • Maintain records, documentation, and reports in compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce safety protocols to create a secure working environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience (X years) working in a laboratory setting, with at least X years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and instrumentation.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to effectively manage a diverse team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Proficiency in following and enforcing safety protocols and regulatory compliance (e.g., OSHA, FDA, ISO standards).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Certification/Licensure Requirements:

FL State Supervisor LicenseRequired

Licensure in 3 technical specialtiesRequired

ASCP or AMTrequired

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Laboratory Management or relevant field.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean) for process optimization.
