Job summary

ITG Brands in Cayey, Puerto Rico, seeks a Laboratory Specialist to support the new production area by performing routine testing, monitoring processes, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining records to ensure quality.

You will collaborate with Production, Quality, and Operations, assist in validation activities, and help drive continuous improvement while adhering to GLP, GMP, and ISO standards.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required in a scientific field; Bachelor's preferred.
• Minimum 3 years in lab/quality/manufacturing environments.
• Experience in manufacturing settings desirable; GMP/ISO knowledge a plus.

Job description

The Laboratory Specialist is responsible for supporting laboratory operations within the new production area by performing routine testing, monitoring production processes, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining laboratory records, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. This position will work closely with Production, Quality, and Operations personnel to provide accurate laboratory results that support product quality, process control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Laboratory Specialist will play a key role in the startup and ongoing support of the new manufacturing line through direct observation of production activities, data collection, data entry, documentation, and reporting of laboratory and process-related information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing and analysis according to established procedures and specifications.
• Collect samples from production processes and conduct required evaluations and inspections.
• Monitor product quality and process performance within the new production area.
• Conduct routine observations of manufacturing operations to identify quality trends and process deviations.
• Record laboratory test results accurately and maintain laboratory documentation.
• Perform data entry and maintain electronic and manual laboratory records.
• Compile, organize, and analyze laboratory and production data for trend analysis and reporting purposes.
• Assist in investigating quality issues, non conformances, and customer complaints.
• Prepare reports, charts, and summaries of laboratory findings and production performance.
• Support validation activities, product trials, and process improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with company quality standards, regulatory requirements, and laboratory procedures.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and coordinate calibration activities as required.
• Follow all safety policies, environmental requirements, and good laboratory practices (GLP).
• Support internal and external audits as needed.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

• Associate's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Industrial Technology, Engineering, or related scientific field required.
• Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or technical discipline preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of laboratory, quality, manufacturing, or related experience preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of laboratory testing techniques and quality systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret data.
• Experience with data entry and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ISO standards, or other quality systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in both laboratory and manufacturing environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout production areas during the workday.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to use laboratory equipment and computer systems for extended periods.

Working Conditions

• Full-time, on-site position.
• Exposure to manufacturing and laboratory environments.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to support production needs.
