Responsibilities

  • Course Preparation and Support (50%): Provide laboratory set up and support to assigned courses and others as determined by supervisor; Maintain updated prep documents; Works with Natural Science Lab Support Supervisor where appropriate to update lab manuals.
  • Operational Support (40%): Assist instructor and student with immediate, non-routine technical or logistical lab needs; Perform inventory of assigned spaces (no ordering); Create list of tasks for weekly prep assistants; Assist with dishes, lab clean up, and chemical prep where needed.
  • Safety & Compliance (10%): Maintain clean, organized, and secure laboratory environments according to university standards.

Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive Seasonal Laboratory Technician to manage daily operations and support instructional labs across the College of Innovation & Technology (CIT). In this dynamic role, you will apply specialized, foundational skills to ensure seamless day-to-day teaching operations, jumping in to solve frequently non-routine operational challenges.

Specifically, we are looking to hire individuals for the following areas:

  • Biology

The Laboratory Services Technicians report directly to The Director of Laboratory Operations & Development.

This is a 9-month seasonal leave, non-exempt hourly position at 40 hours a week (100% effort) from August 1 - May 31, 2026.

The hourly salary range is $15.15 - $18.75.

Work Locations

The primary work location for these position are in CIT Labs on the Flint Campus. All labs are currently located in the Murchie Science Building.
