Job summary

Lam Research in Fremont, CA is seeking a Laboratory Service Engineer to maintain, upgrade, and calibrate state‑of‑the‑art equipment in our applications lab. You’ll work hands‑on with complex systems and partner with process development, hardware, and software teams to support R&D activities and demos.

The role requires a technical degree and 2+ years of experience or an advanced degree with relevant background, plus a 2pm–11pm Sun–Thu shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 2+ years of experience or an advanced degree without experience; or Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent military training with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Schedule is Sun–Thurs 2pm-11pm.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, electro‑mechanical, fluidic, and vacuum systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate in an R&D environment performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and calibrations on equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electromechanical, electronic, and vacuum equipment.
• Ensure safe handling of hazardous gas and liquid materials using required PPE.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support R&D activities, customer demos, and equipment operations.
• Install and provide support for prototype equipment, developing procedures and documentation.
• Maintain alignment on priorities across tasks with proactive communication.
