Job summary

Lam Research in Fremont, California, is seeking a Laboratory Service Engineer to maintain and upgrade equipment in our applications lab. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrations, and provide installation support for prototype equipment.

You will work hands-on with state-of-the-art equipment, collaborate with process development, hardware, and software teams, and help ensure reliable operation of Lam’s cutting-edge technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 2+ years of experience, or advanced degree.
• Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent military training with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, electro‑mechanical, fluidic, and vacuum systems.
• Proficiency with hand tools and electronic test equipment.
• Cleanroom environment experience and PPE use.
• Semiconductor industry experience or familiarity with Lam products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate in an R&D environment performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and calibrations on equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electromechanical, electronic, and vacuum equipment.
• Ensure safe handling of hazardous gas and liquid materials using required Personal Protective Equipment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support R&D activities, customer demos, and equipment operations.
• Install and provide support for prototype equipment, developing procedures and documentation.
• Maintain alignment on priorities across tasks with clear and proactive communication.
