Job summary

Lam Research in Fremont, CA is seeking a Laboratory Service Engineer to maintain and upgrade equipment in our applications lab, performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration on state‑of‑the‑art systems. You will support innovative equipment and help install and document procedures for new prototypes, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

You’ll contribute to R&D efforts, troubleshooting and servicing electrical, electro‑mechanical, and vacuum hardware, while adhering to cleanroom

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 5+ years of experience; or Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent military training with 7+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent work experience.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, electro‑mechanical, fluidic systems, and vacuum systems.
• Proficient use of a variety of hand tools and electronic test equipment for maintenance, repair, and assembly tasks.
• Capable of working in a cleanroom environment, wearing personal protective safety equipment, or cleanroom suit.
• Semiconductor industry experience or understanding of Lam products is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate in an R&D environment performing preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and calibrations on equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electromechanical, electronic, and vacuum equipment.
• Ensure safe handling of hazardous gas and liquid materials using required Personal Protective Equipment.
• Collaborate with process development, hardware, and software teams on R&D activities, demos, and equipment support.
• Install and provide support for prototype equipment, developing procedures and documentation.
• Prioritize tasks with clear, proactive communications across teams.
