UnityPoint Health – Marshalltown Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Scientist, Non-Certified, to perform a wide range of laboratory testing in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role includes overnight shifts with rotating weekends and holidays, and a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

A Bachelor’s degree in chemical or biological science is required, and you will work with advanced instrumentation in a patient-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience performing waived to high-complexity laboratory testing.
• Ability to analyze results and communicate critical findings.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory testing to support patient diagnosis and treatment
• Process and prioritize specimens while ensuring accurate patient identification and quality standards
• Analyze test results, recognize abnormalities, and communicate critical findings appropriately
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot complex laboratory equipment to ensure reliable performance
• Maintain compliance with laboratory quality, safety, infection control, and regulatory standards
• Document testing activities accurately and utilize laboratory information systems effectively
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely, accurate laboratory services
• Assist with specimen collection, inventory management, and other departmental support activities as needed
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff training, and ongoing professional development
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment while supporting departmental goals and patient-centered care
