Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Research Assistant I at Simmons Cancer Center in Dallas to provide skilled technical assistance in medical and scientific research. Responsibilities include daily maintenance of the flow cytometer, preparation of PBS/LB/agar and lab supplies, stocking reagents, and coordinating lab operations across multiple labs.

Training for career development is available to enhance workflow.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of laboratory equipment and practices.
• Experience with flow cytometry and basic lab tasks.
• Ability to maintain stocks and order supplies for the lab.

Responsibilities

• Performs scientific and medical research tasks in biology, chemistry, physics, or related field.
• Constructs, assembles, and operates laboratory equipment and apparatus.
• Records and evaluates data for scientific papers.
• Collaborates with supervisor on preparing scientific papers for publication.
• Reads literature and confers with supervisor on procedures.
• Collects and organizes research data for project reports.
• May supervise Research Technicians or lab personnel at lower grade.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
