Overview
Job title: Research Associate - Comprehensive Cancer Center. Department: CCC | Analytical Cytometry. Role to support and participate in the scientific investigation of the Flow Cytometry Shared Resource (FCSR) in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Responsibilities
- Assists with activities of the FCSR including data management, inventory management and instrument quality control, interacts with research and hospital clinical staff
- Manages appointment log, written and computer formats, and close out appointments in eRamp
- Schedules EHS pickups and deliveries
- Assists in keeping instrument maintenance records
- Performs molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures using prescribed laboratory methods; assists with design and implementation of experiments
- Performs routine research and patient sample analysis for investigators on flow cytometry instruments
- Responsible for analysis of flow cytometric data and application of fluorescent concepts including multiparameter analysis
- Works closely with investigators and research staff regarding sample preparation and data interpretation
- Assists with routine maintenance and quality control of FCSR equipment, assists in preparation of presentation-quality graphics for manuscripts and grant submissions
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a biological/health science or equivalent; 3 years of relevant experience with an Associate's Degree, or 1 year with Bachelor's
- Ability to translate, adapt and apply knowledge in biological/health science research
