Job summary

Kaiser Permanente is seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Operations Leader to manage day-to-day operations in the laboratory, ensuring timely reporting, competency development, and adherence to quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

This role emphasizes cross-functional leadership, performance coaching, training, and continuous improvement across testing areas, with responsibility for resource planning, process optimization, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports in a healthcare related field.
• Bachelor's degree in medical lab science or equivalent, or health care related field with at least six (6) years of experience in medical technology/clinical laboratory sciences or health care related field OR nine (9) years of experience in medical technology/clinical laboratory sciences or health care related field.
• Licensure in California as Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist Scientist OR Clinical Laboratory Scientist OR Clinical Cytogeneticist OR Clinial Hematologist Scientist OR Clinical Toxicologist Scientist OR Clinical Chemist Scientist OR Clinical Immunohematologist OR Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist OR Clinical Microbiologist OR Clinical Reproductive Biologist Scientist required at hire

Responsibilities

• Provides developmental opportunities for others; builds collaborative relationships and coaches for performance improvement.
• Translates business plans into tactical action items; ensures policies and procedures are followed; aligns team efforts and measures progress.
• Maintains testing and training standards; evaluates personnel competency and plans regular training programs.
• Ensures compliance and accreditation; implements policies in line with regulations and inspection checklists; manages licensure renewals.
• Leads cross-functional teams to align lab operations with regulatory changes and standards; coordinates with internal teams and external partners.
• Manages efficient operations, quality, patient safety, and cost effectiveness; evaluates new testing methodologies and technology to improve service and efficiency.
