Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee diagnostic methods and testing personnel across assigned laboratories and sites. You will ensure compliance with hospital policies and participate in budgeting and strategic planning with the Laboratory Director and LIS teams.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science and at least six years in laboratory operations, with two years in leadership. NY licensure/ASCP is preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent discipline required.
• Six years of experience in laboratory operations with two or more years in a supervisory/leadership capacity preferred.
• Clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee diagnostic methods and testing personnel within assigned laboratories/departments.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Develop short-term and long-range goals for all divisions and monitor performance.
• Manage budgets and participate in Laboratory Service Center budgeting.
• Represent the Laboratory on hospital or community committees.
• Ensure proper training, competency, and regulatory documentation for staff.
