Job summary

Roger Williams University is seeking a Laboratory Manager for the School of Engineering, Computing and Construction Management in Bristol, RI. The role oversees laboratory operations, equipment, safety, and facilities readiness to support teaching, research, and outreach.

The position reports to the Dean via the Director of Operations and requires collaboration across multiple departments to ensure compliant, efficient, and safe laboratory environments for students and faculty.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Applied Technology, Industrial Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • The ability to work closely with others in a professional manner is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer the processes, activities, and planning associated with SECCM laboratories and instructional spaces.
  • Coordinate scheduling, access and utilization of laboratories, project rooms, maker spaces, and other instructional facilities; supervise work-study and payroll student employees.
  • Inventory, order, and receive laboratory equipment and supplies; communicate equipment needs for capital requests and operating expense proposals.
  • Support readiness of laboratories for teaching, research, outreach, recruitment, and events; coordinate with IT, Facilities, and other offices on resolutions.
  • Develop and maintain laboratory operating procedures, documentation, and standard practices; implement improvement plans to enhance efficiency and user experience.
  • Assist with capital equipment planning, budgeting requests, and long-term investments for diverse disciplines.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Applied Technology, Industrial Technology, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
