Job summary

Clean Harbors, Inc. is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to oversee daily laboratory operations, supervise staff, ensure testing quality and certifications, and support facility permits and discharge requirements.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, 5-7 years of lab experience, strong leadership, and proficiency with Windows-based applications; travel is less than 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field is required.
• 5-7 years of laboratory experience and solid knowledge of chemical testing and operations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities; capable of teamwork.
• Proficiency with Windows-based applications and laboratory systems.
• OSHA, DOT/RCRA, and other required trainings; IATA certification when applicable.
• Ability to meet physical requirements; travel less than 10%.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train, and support laboratory staff; participate in hiring and evaluations.
• Analyze samples to determine properties, troubleshoot results, and develop testing methods.
• Calibrate and maintain instruments; coordinate vendor service and repairs.
• Ensure on-time testing and adherence to QA/QC standards.
• Maintain certifications, records, supplies, and relationships with external labs.
• Investigate out-of-spec results and resolve testing issues.
• Manage laboratory waste and maintain a safe work environment per procedures.
• Implement and train staff under the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
