Job summary

SunState Medical Specialists is seeking a Lab Manager to provide operational, quality, and regulatory leadership for laboratory services across multiple physician-owned locations in Florida. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred in healthcare admin or business.
• ASCP/AMT or other certification preferred.
• Must meet CLIA and state requirements for oversight.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational oversight and leadership for laboratory services across multiple locations.
• Ensure laboratory testing is performed safely, accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards.
• Develop and maintain standardized laboratory workflows, policies, and procedures across locations.
• Monitor laboratory performance, staffing, productivity, turnaround times, utilization, and service levels.
• Lead quality assurance and quality control programs, including review of quality indicators, corrective actions, and process improvement opportunities.
• Oversee proficiency testing activities and ensure documentation, follow-up, and corrective actions.
• Maintain regulatory readiness and assist with inspections, audits, and surveys.
• Standardize laboratory practices related to instrumentation, quality control, documentation, equipment maintenance, inventory, training, and reporting.
• Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate laboratory quality, operational performance, and compliance.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and support to laboratory managers and staff.
• Ensure staff competency assessments and ongoing development.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and succession planning for laboratory teams.
• Partner with physicians, operations, quality, compliance, finance, IT/LIS, procurement, and other stakeholders to optimize laboratory services.
• Support implementation of new equipment, testing platforms, service lines, and laboratory expansions.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and maintain quality and compliance.
• Serve as a subject matter expert regarding laboratory operations and regulatory requirements.
