Qualifications
- Eight (8) years of relevant experience in laboratory billing, coding, or compliance.
- Master’s degree or higher in a related field preferred.
- Certification in healthcare billing/coding or compliance is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for the laboratory billing and compliance program.
- Lead billing team across the Orlando Health footprint.
- Develop and implement laboratory policies and procedures to support operations, compliance, and quality.
- Ensure accuracy of CPT and LOINC codes and testing pricing.

Orlando Health | System-Wide Leadership Role | Orlando, FL
Provides leadership and oversite for day-to-day activities associated with Orlando Health (OH) laboratories compliance program. The Laboratory Operational Finance and Compliance Director has direct responsibility for billing and results compliance, billing work queues, coding, reference lab results entry, test build compliance, and test build charge testing. Develops laboratory compliance education and ensures team members complete by expected timelines. Partners with Revenue Cycle, Finance, HIM, HIT, Compliance, and laboratories throughout the system. Performs laboratory test audits to support organization and regulatory requirements. This individual has ultimate accountability for driving preeminence throughout OH, ensuring success within the organization. The Laboratory Operational Finance and Compliance Director support the attainment of goals for all areas of responsibility. This position reports to the OH Chief Laboratory Officer. This leader must be able to work effectively in a highly matrixed and relationship-driven culture. The incumbent must be a visionary leader who knows how to effectively drive change in a complex and distributed yet system-oriented environment.
Schedule: Monday - Friday- Business Hours
This position is an exempt position with a hybrid schedule. This position is remote with the ability to travel to different Orlando Health facilities for on-site meetings/education sessions on a quartly basis.

- Leadership & Strategy
- Readily available to provide consultation and interpretation of laboratory billing and compliance. Counsel and advise team members on laboratory compliance regulations and laboratory billing requirements.
- Leads billing team across OH footprint.
- Offers explanations for variances and assists in the selection of appropriate follow‑up to address a concern when needed.
- Serves as a resource in the resolution of healthcare system‑wide issues.
- Maintain a productive working relationship with other affiliate hospitals, laboratory departments, laboratory and center administrations, other areas/departments of the Medical Center and the medical community to accomplish goals.
- Serves as a mentor in laboratory compliance and lab billing administrative procedures.
- Actively participates in the educational programs for Orlando Health team members, including students, residents, and fellows.
- Operational Management
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams to assess overall systems integration.
- Provide direct leadership in the development of laboratory policies and procedures that support operations, compliance, and quality.
- Participates in the implementation of new equipment and new tests, ensures accuracy of test, CPT and LOINC codes.
- Participates in IT test implementation, working with revenue on pricing and EPIC testing to ensure accuracy.
- Directs the OH laboratory compliance and billing program.
- Financial Oversight & Budgeting
- Directly accountable for ensuring all workqueques outliers are addressed timely.
- Demonstrates and regularly monitors compliance with approved programs, budgets, and fiscal activities.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Foster productive working relationships with hospital leadership, medical group representatives, and cross‑functional teams to promote integrated care and streamlined services.
- Partner with clinical staff to ensure that laboratory services support and enhance patient care.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on quality operations, accreditation, metrics, and key initiatives.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Initiates action and provides leadership for performance improvement initiatives directly related to compliance or lab billing within the laboratories.
- Participates in survey readiness activities.
- Plan, design and/or adapt information management system(s) in conjunction with LIS/IS, optimizing the system(s) to meet internal and external needs, including the following: confidentiality, privacy, security, accessibility, and resolution of complaints.
- Immediately address and assess any issues and/or complaints regarding patient safety. In conjunction with the laboratory leadership, complete a thorough investigation which results in a corrective action plan to address the concern.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships across departments.
- Expertise in laboratory compliance, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
- Master’s degree in Laboratory Science, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or relevant field preferred.
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.
- Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (NHA) preferred.
- Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferred
- Lean Six Sigma, Green, or Black Belt preferred.
- Eight (8) years of relevant experience, with a minimum of three (3) years in laboratory billing, coding, or compliance preferred
