Description

The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor, without tenure due to reasons of funding. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. This position has an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026, but is flexible.

Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment.

The base salary range for this position will be: $22,023 to $36,921 per month ($264,276 to $443,052 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

The successful candidate will join our Cytopathology subspecialty service on the clinician-teacher pathway. The primary clinical service responsibilities will be case sign out in these diagnostic services as well as the associated teaching of medical/PA students, post-sophomore fellows, residents, and fellows. UW AP faculty on these services also participate in intraoperative consultation service/on-call rotations. The successful candidate is expected to interact and foster relationships with clinicians and participate in interdisciplinary conferences associated with these services.

Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, ability to participate in other subspecialty services, including Gynecologic Pathology, GI Pathology, Breast Pathology, and GU Pathology.

All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications: The successful candidate will possess an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), be board certified in anatomic pathology and cytopathology, and have completed a formal Cytopathology Fellowship training program. The candidate must have expertise in GI pathology as well. Must qualify for a license to practice medicine in Washington State. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1-B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
