Job summary

Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma is seeking a Laboratory leadership professional to assist the Laboratory Director in managing personnel and quality within the clinical Laboratory Services. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-efficient services and expeditious operations.

The incumbent will help identify results requiring follow-up, participate in performance improvement activities, and coordinate staffing while resolving conflicts.

Qualifications

• Must be certified/registered as Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Two years experience as Medical Laboratory Scientist.
• Leadership experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Laboratory Director with management and coordination of personnel and quality.
• Ensure services are high quality, cost-contained and expeditious.
• Recognize results or problems needing follow-up and coordinate with Director.
• Assist with performance improvement activities and CQI initiatives.
• Coordinate staffing and resolve conflicts within the department.
• Maintain effective physician and intra-department relations.

Job description

DEFINITION:

Responsible for assisting the Laboratory Director in the management and coordination of the personnel and quality in the clinical Laboratory Services. Ensures that services are of the best quality, are cost contained and are carried out in an expeditious manner. Responsible for recognizing results or problems that require follow up and coordination with the Laboratory Director. Assists with performance improvement activities, staffing coordination, conflict resolution within the department and participates in CQI activities. Maintains effective physician and intradepartmental relations.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):

• Certified/Registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, must meet minimum requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Act of 1988.
• Two (2) years experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous leadership experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Two to five years experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist of an acute hospital.
• Recent leadership experience in the clinical laboratory of an acute hospital.
• Prefer experience with regulatory and accreditation of an acute hospital
• ASCP Certification
