Job summary

Riverland Community Health in Saint Paul, MN seeks a Lead Medical Laboratory Technician to manage daily lab operations, supervise staff, and ensure accuracy of tests across hematology, chemistry, urinalysis and PHC testing. You will optimize workflows, perform testing, and mentor personnel within a compliant, patient‑focused setting.

The role requires an MLT credential (or BSMT) with 1+ year lead experience, strong communication, and EMR proficiency.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in MLT or Bachelor’s in MLT.
• Two years or more recent experience in an accredited laboratory.
• At least 1 year lead/supervisory experience preferred.
• X‑ray certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical laboratory functions including hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, hemoglobin A1C, point-of-care testing, kit testing.
• Prepare specimens to send to reference laboratory.
• Report test results following lab protocols alerting providers and/or nurses about abnormal results.
• Performs phlebotomy and capillary punctures on patients to obtain samples for testing.
• Participates in quality improvement activities including analysis of proficiency testing samples and quality control.
• Perform and document equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Monitors and requests laboratory supplies to ensure proper inventory.
• Assist in training of new personnel and document training.
• Answer incoming department calls and respond appropriately.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, COLA regulations and HIPAA standards.
