Job summary

ICF Olson is seeking a dual-role Laboratory Health and Safety Lead/Environmental Chemist to support the USEPA Region 9 ESAT contract in Corvallis, Oregon, with occasional travel to Hayward, CA. The role combines lab safety leadership with hands-on environmental analytical chemistry using EPA methods.

The candidate will perform inorganic and organic analyses, manage data and reports, and work in a ISO 17025 environment, requiring U.S. citizenship and EPA background clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physical sciences or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of laboratory experience including 2 years in laboratory safety and regulatory implementation; at least 3 years with EPA methodologies.
• Experience with EPA-approved instrumentation (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC-FID, GC-MS) in ISO 17025 accredited lab.
• Experience with integrated LIMS; paperless lab experience is desirable.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to pass EPA background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform environmental chemistry analyses using EPA methods.
• Operate ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC-FID, GC-MS as required.
• Prepare samples using digestion/extractions for metals and organics.
• Maintain quality systems and regulatory documentation.
• Support hazardous waste management and waste stream optimization.
