Job summary

South Carolina Department of Public Health seeks a maintenance technician to operate, calibrate, and repair a range of laboratory instruments. You will schedule preventive work, perform corrective maintenance, and document all activities in CMMS for CLIA compliance.

The role includes training staff, assisting with instrument selection, and managing the Laboratory Vehicles mileage log. A high school diploma and related experience or training are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; experience or training in the work area considered.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Proficiency with mechanical tools and safety precautions required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, calibrate electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical laboratory instruments.
  • Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and calibration services.
  • Coordinate and perform unscheduled corrective maintenance.
  • Generate and maintain maintenance records using CMMS and share with supervisors to ensure CLIA compliance.
  • Train less experienced staff and advise on selecting new instrumentation.
  • Create and maintain a mileage/maintenance spreadsheet for Laboratory Vehicles.
  • Provide billing for services to outside agencies using the Standard Invoice and Payment System.
