Job summary

Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, GA is seeking a part-time Laboratory Assistant to perform data entry of patient information and laboratory orders for outpatient specimens, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of results to clinicians.

You will operate the laboratory information system, process specimens, and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA. The role includes courier coordination support and client service for physicians and staff in a busy clinical lab setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must adhere to HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
• Experience with data entry in a clinical lab preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates laboratory and hospital information system for entry and retrieval of patient demographic data and order entry.
• Processes outpatient lab specimens, orders tests and labels specimens for testing.
• Retrieves patient data and results for clients and physicians; delivers information via printers/fax.
• Provides client service and calls stat results to clients and physicians; documents calls.
• Answers and transfers calls; uses login for telephone queue; enters information for add-on tests and recollects.
• Uses computer system for interdepartmental email, tracks specimens, retrieves results, and scans requisitions.
• Informs couriers of specimen pickups and assists with local pickups when needed.
• Follows universal safety precautions and patient safety policies.
• Provides support for all lab departments as needed.
