Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Laboratory Courier to support the Reference Lab Operations-Diagnostics Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. The role involves efficient specimen transport, strict handling protocols, and daily vehicle care to ensure timely test results for patients.

The caregiver will work full-time evenings, with a schedule of 2:30pm-11:30pm or 3:00pm-11:30pm, on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid state driver’s license (VDL) and a good driving record.
• Obtain and maintain eligibility as determined by Cleveland Clinic's insurance carrier's requirements to operate foundation vehicles.
• Can work independently and organize and prioritize deliveries and pickups.

Responsibilities

• Pickup and delivery of laboratory specimens to designated areas.
• Use appropriate handling, storage and transportation methods.
• Perform daily, preventive maintenance of an assigned vehicle.
• Verify that delivery has been completed properly.
• Ensure that all items are picked up and delivered, barcodes are scanned, and signatures are obtained.
• Submit daily route sheets, accident reports, maintenance records and mileage reports.
• Check all fluid levels daily and perform basic safety checks of mechanical operations.
• Report any malfunctions and problems to the section leader for correction.

As a Laboratory Courier, you will perform daily, preve n tive maintenance of assigned vehicles and perform scheduled deliveries and pickups at all perimeter locations according to your established route and schedule. This position is here to assist the lab and move specimens as quickly as possible to provide patients with their test results .

A caregiver in this position works full-time evenings, either 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm or 3:30 pm to 12:00 am, including every other weeke nd.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year of experience as a courier
• No points on the driver's license
• Experienced driver
• Comfortable using a smart phone
• Knowledge of the area around Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus

Physical Requirements:

Typical physical demands include full body motion including ability to lift and transport medium weight materials up to 50 lbs. Ability to spend long hours driving and working in all weather conditions
