Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Camp Hill, PA, is hiring a Laboratory Assistant - Specimen Processing for a full-time day shift (8:00a-4:30p). Responsibilities include receiving specimens, ensuring identity, entering orders, and preparing samples for analysis with attention to accurate demographics and insurance data.
Minimum qualification is a High School Diploma or equivalent, with additional training and up to six months of related experience preferred.

Responsible for receiving laboratory specimens (blood and other body fluids), insuring specimen identity and acceptability; entering orders for laboratory testing into the Lab Information System; and entering patient demographic and insurance information into the patient registration system. Prepares specimens for analysis. Answers telephone and provides information related to specimen requirements, test availability, specimen testing status; provides laboratory results. Prepares specimens for referral to outside reference laboratories and insures that all storage requirements are met.
