Job Duties
Assisting in inventory control, ordering of supplies, maintaining, cleaning, supplying and decontamination of benches and equipment, ensuring certain specimens are triaged to other labs or are sent out for analysis.
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested, and support the department in maintaining an efficient workflow by performing laboratory assignments
Maintains cleanliness of laboratory preparation areas and equipment
Follows all SOPs, guidelines, practices, and regulations when conducting work
Assists staff and order, restock supplies and data entry when required
Replenish test bench supplies as needed
Preferred Criteria
Some college or technical courses
Laboratory processing experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Required Criteria
High School Diploma or GED
Performs a variety of clerical and typing services for the department.
Greets outpatients, processes blood requisitions and directs patients to blood drawing area.
Opens and routes incoming mail. Distributes correspondence and other materials to department staff. Answers telephones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers; communicates effectively with personnel and other departments as necessary.
Manages adequate inventory of supplies in office, reordering or reporting low levels to supervisor as necessary.
Prepares purchase requisitions and check requests and maintains check request and purchase requisition files.
Maintains record keeping and filing system in accordance with departmental system.
Classifies, sorts and files correspondence, records and other materials as required.
Performs a variety of clerical assignments (e.g., photocopying). Delivers Laboratory reports to nursing units and mails outpatient reports to requesting physician.
Position Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent required.
1 year of clerical experience preferred.
Typing: 45 wpm. Good oral and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position; knowledge of a second language preferred.
Salary commensurate with experience within posted range.
$18.14 PER HR/ DIFFERENTIALS $1.00 EVE NIGHT & WEEKEND
Diploma or better in Diploma/GED.
Typing 45 wpm.
1 year: Clerical experience.
