Job summary

MarinHealth is seeking Laboratory Assistants to procure blood specimens (inpatient and outpatient), process specimens, perform EKGs, and support licensed laboratory staff and physicians in a busy hospital setting. The role includes progression from Lab Assistant I to II within 6–12 months based on on-the-job performance.

This position requires teamwork, accuracy, and adherence to hospital policies, with training in CPT, BLS, IAMTAC, and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months to one year of Lab Assistant experience or Lab Assistant I in MGH Service; venous and capillary blood sampling required.
• Arterial puncture and EKG experience preferred.
• CPT I or CPT II certification required at hire; BLS within 90 days; IAMTAC within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Procures venous, arterial and capillary blood samples.
• Processes specimens and operates laboratory equipment.
• Performs electrocardiograms (EKGs) and assists licensed staff and physicians.
• May assist with outpatient registration and specimen drop-off as needed.
• Maintains accurate records and documents; ensures safety and HIPAA compliance.
