Job summary

Luminis Health, Inc. seeks a laboratory support professional to assist the technical staff in delivering laboratory information to aid diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. The role involves specimen collection, processing, and ensuring quality and compliance within a clinical lab setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment and supplies, registering patients in HIS, and mentoring new staff, with occasional travel to other locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months experience in an acute care facility.
• MLA(ASCP) or PBT(ASCP) preferred.
• May require travel to various locations.

Responsibilities

• Creates a work environment that promotes process improvement and takes ownership of outcomes.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and properly labels and disposes of biohazard/chemical waste.
• Fosters cooperation across departments to maintain workflow.
• Manages laboratory supplies by monitoring stock, placing orders, and ensuring proper storage conditions.
• Provides clinical lab information and mentors new staff.
• Obtains biological specimens as needed (venipuncture, capillary, heel-stick) and processes specimens for testing.
• Accurately registers patients in the Hospital Information System and reads orders for testing.
• Prepares aliquots and processes samples for referral to outside labs; distributes specimens accordingly.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Participates in the laboratory quality plan/program and documents QC daily.
