Job summary

Luminis Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to support diagnostic testing in a hospital laboratory. The role involves performing a broad range of tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and urinalysis, and reporting results accurately.

The incumbent will operate laboratory instruments, participate in quality control, and mentor newer staff, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college with ASCP eligibility for MLS/MT certification.
• One year of experience in an acute care facility preferred.
• MLS/MT ASCP certification (or eligible within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical laboratory tests across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, urinalysis, and related areas.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and perform preventative maintenance.
• Document results and ensure accurate reporting in the LIS with timely communication of abnormal values.
• Mentor/train new staff and students as needed.
• Participate in quality control, proficiency testing, and continual improvement activities.
• Adhere to safety, regulatory, and facility policies at all times.
