Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months experience in an acute care facility in an equivalent role.
• MLA(ASCP) or PBT(ASCP) preferred.
• May travel to various locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe, clean work environment and comply with procedures and regulations.
• Label and dispose of biohazard and chemical waste per guidelines.
• Assist with maintaining lab supplies inventory and ordering as needed.
• Provide clinical lab information and assist in mentoring new staff.
• Assist in specimen collection and processing to ensure quality samples for testing.
• Record patient information accurately in the Hospital Information System and access tests as requested.
• Prepare aliquots and process samples for referral to outside labs as required.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
• Participate in the laboratory quality plan/program and document QC daily.
