Job Summary

Pathology Services Laboratory is an independent laboratory located in Russellville that processes human tissue and fluid specimens for diagnosis and reporting to referring medical providers in the central and western areas of Arkansas. We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Russellville, AR, Monday through Friday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. Hourly wage will be based on experience and education. Training will be provided.

Duties

• Use Laboratory Information System (LIS) to accurately log in specimens.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of laboratory samples following established protocols.
• Maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures and results using LIS.
• Support histology, cytology, and microbiology tasks, including sample processing and staining.
• Comply with all safety, quality control and quality assurance standards, as well as local and federal regulations (CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA).
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory workspace, ensuring all equipment is properly sanitized and stored.
• Scan specimen slides into the system.
• Eagerly accept new but related job duties as needs arise.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Familiarity with laboratory procedures, including histology, cytology, and microbiology techniques.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• An Associate’s Degree with a background in life sciences or a related field is preferred.
• Specific highly preferred consideration will be given to applicants with at least 24 semester hours of medical laboratory courses OR 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 semester hours of biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination.
• Experience with or willingness to accept training in grossing specimens.
