Job summary

The successful candidate:

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of tasks within the laboratory to support the laboratory technical staff; responsibilities include, but are not limited to, specimen processing for in-house and reference lab testing, answering phones, responding to general inquiries via Teams, email and Epic Secure Chat, performing general lab processes such as centrifugation, analyzer loading, inventory organization and review, specimen management, urinalysis and kit test preparation, performance of waived testing following approved protocols. This position requires strong teamwork and clear, effective communication to achieve common goals and meet deadlines to provide quality care to our patients.

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent required

Pref. Certification/Licensure: ASCP, preferred

Preferred Experience: A minimum of two years’ experience in a clinical laboratory setting

Skills/Abilities:

Professional demeanor, effective collaboration and communication skills ensuring teamwork with co‑workers, nursing staff and physicians.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements and knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Must be able to work independently
