City of Hope in the Phoenix area is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for a PRN, as-needed M-F role covering Scottsdale and North Phoenix Outpatient Care Centers. The technician performs routine and complex tests, reports results within turnaround times, and handles equipment maintenance and quality control.

Requires Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology or Biological Sciences and ASCP or AMT certification (or eligibility within 18 months).

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex laboratory tests and report results within the expected turnaround time.
• Maintain equipment, calibration and quality control testing per procedures.
• Handle specimen transport, phlebotomy, and processing for in-house and reference testing.
• Answer calls and review pending logs; cover other Outpatient Clinics as needed.

The successful candidate: ***This is a PRN role- as needed M-F role. Position will handle coverage for our Scottsdale and North Phoenix Outpatient Care Centers.*** The Medical Laboratory Technician is responsible for accurately performing a variety of routine and complex laboratory tests and reporting results within the expected turnaround time to assist healthcare providers delivering the most optimal patient outcomes. Performs, as assigned, all required equipment maintenance, calibration and quality control testing per departmental procedures. Performs a variety of tasks including specimen transport, phlebotomy, specimen processing for in-house and send-out testing for reference laboratories, answering telephone calls, reviewing pending logs, etc. Must be available to cover other Outpatient Clinics as needed.

Position Qualifications: Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences or related field from an accredited college or university.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Certification required (ASCP or AMT) or eligible to take exam. Must successfully complete certification (ASCP or AMT) within 18 months of hire.
