BC Forward is looking for a Laboratory Assistant in Johnston, IA 50131.

Position Details:

• Title: Laboratory Assistant
• Location: Johnston, IA 50131
• Start Date: 6/16/2025
• Duration: 6 months contract with possible extension
• Pay Rate: $25.00/hr on W2

Team and Responsibilities:

The Assay Development and Characterization (ADC) team develops and optimizes assay platforms for hit identification, characterization, and performance analysis. The Research Assistant will support laboratory operations, assist with experiments, and work collaboratively within the team under the guidance of project leads.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintain laboratory facilities and equipment according to standards.
2. Operate common instrumentation such as liquid handlers and plate readers.
3. Work with various insect species across different life stages.
4. Assist with plant assays including sampling, culture maintenance, and care.
5. Perform laboratory duties requiring sterile techniques.
6. Accurately document experimental data under supervision.
