Job Summary
Laboratory Animal Caretakers handle, treat, and observe animals used in research. They handle laboratory animals, observe them for signs of disease, sanitize, organize, and maintain animal cages and equipment by operating cage washers, tunnel washers, and autoclaves. They sanitize corridors and support areas to promote animal health and welfare, complying with policies and regulations. Routine maintenance is performed to ensure proper operation of equipment and machinery in cage wash. Caretakers communicate with supervisors and clinical staff to report issues and receive instructions regarding animal handling and treatment. They monitor environmental parameters, maintain records by collecting and recording data, administer treatments, euthanize animals, and assist during nonroutine husbandry practices under supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
There are no minimum education or experience qualifications.
Work Schedule
Based on 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays.
