Job Description

This Remote Driving Janitor position involves laundry attending, cleaning services, and related duties to maintain remote industrial housing facilities, food service areas, offices, or similar environments. The role includes expediting product, supplies, and equipment between camps. All duties are performed in alignment with NMS’s mission, vision, values, and housekeeping policies.

Responsibilities

• Clean and restock hallways, stairways, offices, food prep areas, kitchens, laundry rooms, clinics, living and work areas, off-site and common areas, restrooms, and other similar spaces.
• Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, extracting, waxing, buffing, and vacuuming.
• Dust surfaces at various heights and clean different surfaces.
• Use appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions for all tasks.
• Dispose of waste properly, including trash and linen removal, and restock supplies in sleeping and bathroom areas.
• Potentially clean indoor and outdoor smoking lounges.
• Perform light maintenance, such as changing light bulbs and keeping building entryways clear of snow and debris.
• Participate in safety programs and support safety protocols.
• Extensive driving required, often in foul weather, including transporting items and delivering materials using various equipment and vehicles.
• Report safety or sanitation issues to supervisors.
• Other related duties as assigned.
• This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum one year experience with commercial cleaning equipment and processes.
• Minimum one year experience in commercial housekeeping.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record for the past three years.
• Ability to pass pre-employment requirements, including drug testing, physical and fit-for-duty assessments, and hearing tests.
• Ability to work as part of a team and make decisions independently.
• Ability to stand for 12 hours per shift.
• Willingness to live in dormitory-style accommodations and meet cleanliness standards.
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Adherence to all safety guidelines and regulations.

**COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement:** The company complies with applicable COVID-19 regulations, which may include vaccination or weekly testing, depending on current policies.

Residing Outside Anchorage: Candidates outside Anchorage are responsible for travel expenses for pre-employment testing and training, which may be scheduled in Anchorage or within Alaska.

Remote Location Travel: Employees cover their travel expenses to reporting points and remote sites as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoor/outdoor, often in arctic conditions.

Noise: Moderate to loud.

Environment: Remote camp setting requiring standing, walking, climbing, and other physical activities. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals is possible.

Physical tasks include lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs and ladders, and performing physical endurance tests.
