Job summary

Methanex Geismar seeks a Laboratory Analyst to provide accurate analytical services that support production and process optimization at the Geismar site. You will operate and calibrate laboratory instruments, perform quality control, enter results into the database, and communicate findings to plant operators to support efficient plant operation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
• 1–5 years chemistry laboratory experience in manufacturing or related industry
• Experience with operation of laboratory instruments
• Understands relationship between lab services and plant operations
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Flexibility for varied working arrangements and rotating shift schedule

Responsibilities

• Provides accurate analytical service to support production requirements
• Supports laboratory services through method development, testing and trials
• Responds to requests for support outside normal hours to maintain lab service continuity
• Identifies and troubleshoots laboratory equipment and methodology
• Performs quality control checks on instruments
• Analyzes QC samples and actions data when out of limits
• Carries out all aspects of sample analysis and enters results into the database
• Reports results accurately and informs plant operators of impactful findings
• Interprets laboratory results through process knowledge and contributes to Lab Quality Management
• Works with Technical Department and other sites to share best practices
• Supports operational excellence and upholds Methanex values
