Job summary

Methanex Geismar is seeking a Process Engineer to troubleshoot and optimize methanol and ammonia production. You will apply engineering knowledge, operate with minimal supervision, and lead change management and plant improvement projects.

You will monitor process performance, develop operating procedures, and communicate across departments to enhance safety, reliability, and efficiency. Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years in a continuous-process environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a continuous process industry, preferably chemicals or oil refining.
  • TWIC security credential required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot problems within the Methanol and Ammonia manufacturing facilities.
  • Monitor performance of processes through all stages of production with daily interaction with operations.
  • Identify ways to optimize performance or ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and manage area plant improvement projects.
  • Design, plan, and execute approved project assignments.
  • Lead change management (MOC) and Hazop studies as appropriate.
  • Prepare production progress reports and plant efficiency studies for management.
  • Collaborate with catalyst providers to evaluate catalyst performance and plan future turnaround needs.
  • Develop or update process flow diagrams and P&IDs.
