Laboratory Analyst, Bureau of Tuberculosis Control

Join our team as a Laboratory Analyst, Bureau of Tuberculosis Control at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Position Overview

The Bureau of Tuberculosis Control aims to eliminate TB as a public health issue in NYC. The Laboratory Analyst will oversee laboratory specimen tracking, troubleshoot processing issues, conduct false-positive investigations, and ensure proper data entry and communication regarding TB results. This role reports to the Surveillance Team Lead and works as part of the Surveillance and Laboratory Coordination Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and track all incoming TB laboratory results
  • Manage specimen processing routes from ordering provider to labs and into DOHMH systems
  • Respond to requests regarding specimen status
  • Consult with case managers and providers on results
  • Troubleshoot processing issues and liaise with labs
  • Conduct false positive investigations
  • Coordinate with ECLRS/EDRI teams on data system issues
Preferred Skills
  • Strong computer skills and experience with SAS, SQL, R, and/or Python
  • Analytical skills and experience working with laboratory data and LIS systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in public health or epidemiology with coursework in epidemiology, or a bachelor's degree plus two years of relevant experience in health data collection and analysis.

Additional Information
