Job summary

PAX Technology is seeking a Labor & Employment Counsel to provide legal guidance and strategic support on employment matters. The role reports to the General Counsel and collaborates with HR and business leaders to navigate employee relations, investigations, leaves, accommodations, and compliance across the organization.

You will advise on day-to-day labor issues, including performance management, terminations, and policy development across U.S.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school with an active license.
  • 4+ years of labor and employment law experience, in-house preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of federal/state employment laws including FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, ADEA.

Responsibilities

  • Advise HR and leaders on employee relations, investigations, and terminations.
  • Provide guidance on leave, accommodations, and compliance matters.
  • Review employment agreements, policies, notices, and communications.
  • Draft updates to policies to ensure legal compliance.
  • Monitor changes in employment laws and advise on required actions.
  • Assist with workforce reorganizations and related initiatives.
  • Support with audits, investigations, and claims filings.

Job description

The Labor & Employment Counsel will provide legal support and strategic guidance to the organization on employment-related matters. This role will report to the General Counsel and work closely with HR and business leaders to help navigate employee relations issues, workplace investigations, leave and accommodation matters, employment decisions, and compliance requirements. The Labor & Employment Counsel will also support the organization in managing employment-related risk, interpreting changes in applicable laws and regulations, and ensuring employment practices and policies are legally sound.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Advise HR and business leaders on day-to-day labor and employment matters, including employee relations, performance management, and terminations.
  • Provide guidance on FMLA, ADA, accommodations, leaves of absence, and other employment compliance matters.
  • Provide counsel and guidance on investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other employee concerns.
  • Review and advise on employment-related agreements, policies, notices, and employee communications.
  • Draft and update employment policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and local employment laws and advise the organization on required actions.
  • Partner with HR on reductions in force, reorganizations, and other workforce-related initiatives.
  • Assist with EEOC, DOL, and other governmental agency claims, investigations, and inquiries.
  • Provide practical, business-focused legal guidance to mitigate employment-related risk.
  • Assist with contract review, drafting, negotiation, and related legal matters.
  • Support audits, compliance initiatives, and other employment-related legal projects as needed.
What You’ll Need
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with an active license to practice law and in good standing.
  • 4+ years of labor and employment law experience, preferably supporting corporate or in-house clients.
  • Strong knowledge of federal employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, Title VII, FLSA, ADEA, and related regulations.
  • Familiarity with employment laws across all U.S. states, with particular expertise in Florida employment law.
  • Experience advising on employee relations, workplace investigations, accommodations, leave matters, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical, business-focused advice.
  • Ability to work independently and provide timely legal support on an as-needed basis.
